The DJ has been with us for 94 years In that time
he has completely transformed the way music is
conceived, created, and consumed. Jamaica was
the location of the first form of sound clashes
(Mobile sound systems would set up an ear shot
from the other and compete to have the most packed
dance floor) this ritual was adopted many other genres
of music most notably hip hop and not so well known
Chicago house.

| Not too long ago we walked
into New World Records and
picked up a few random CD's.
We got home and discoverd a
an early Christmas gift in the
bag. It was the RJD2 sampler
CD, "The Mashed up Mixes."
There's three really good
things about this joint. 1) It's
good! 2) The 2 sampler tracks
total a good half hour of some
great stuff. 3) It's free. But it's
only a taste of the LP which
promises to be hot based on
the merit of this funky sampler. |
